Handmade by Alison Sloan

About

Alison began training as a silversmith in 2014 following a career in artist management in the music industry and theatre. She founded Ned+Sloan four years later and now works at her studio in Godalming.

Her unusual, but wearable jewellery is inspired by her garden, the seaside and a longstanding interest in fashion. Most of the pieces are one-offs and she particularly enjoys hand casting and using unusual stones.

Her preference is for recycled silver and hand casting allows her to re-use all of her ‘scrap’ metal.

As well as making jewellery with silver, gold, pearls and precious/semi-precious stones, Alison creates a range of bespoke items embellished with her designs. They include silver buckles with detachable multicoloured leather belts, decorated oak and walnut picture frames, cherry wood spoons, key rings, cufflinks, hand cast animals and oak boxes topped with silver figures.

Ned+Sloan can be found at fairs and pop-ups throughout the year, mostly in the Surrey Hills and surrounding area.

Alison enjoys selling in person as it allows customers to try on her pieces – a process that is particularly useful when considering one of her many one-off rings.
